The vineyard surrounds the castle. It is in one piece on the plateau of Puy de Menjon, a remarkable terroir that it shares with its neighbor, Château Fonréaud. The terroir of Château Lestage is mainly composed of Pyrenean gravel on the plateau, and clay-limestone and marl on the slopes. Production notes
A rigorous selection of plots and grapes is carried out during the harvest. After a light crushing and a destemming of the grapes, the must is directed in small thermoregulated tanks which allow a perfect control of the fermentations, thus bringing the expression, the richness and the expression, richness and nuances of each parcel. The duration of the vatting is 20 to 25 days depending on the vintage.
Tasting notes
The fruity notes of Merlot predominate, well framed by a present but not dominant woodiness. The mouth expresses a beautiful maturity, a lot of balance and finesse: its small silky tannins make it fleshy and supple. A greedy wine that can be savored now but which can be aged for ten years or so.
