Product notes

A rather intense cherry red color. The nose is dominated by fruity notes and a touch of spice. It also evokes subtle aromas of wood. This red shows a good liveliness and soft tannins. Faithful to the scents perceived at the olfaction, it asserts itself by flavors of small red fruits and black currant. It has a supple mouthfeel and a strong finish.

Production notes

Pelee Island is home to one of the largest concentrations of endangered organisms in Canada. Appropriately, three species of anurans including Cricket's frog, Blanchard's cricket kidney and Fowler's toad, all of which have long since disappeared from the island, appear to be back after biologists were able to record the typical croaking sounds of these species. At 223 hectares, Pelee Island Winery's vineyards comprise the largest private estate in Canada. Controlling our grape supply allows us to grow and care for each vineyard in accordance with the guidelines of the World Wild Life Fund's Sustainable Vineyard Practice. In short, this translates into limited and controlled use of pesticide sprays and the use of 100% island grown fertilizer - sorghum grass.
