About this winery

Covering 46 hectares, our vines occupy an extraordinary range of superior terroirs along the three river valleys that we call home – the Mosel, Saar and Ruwer. Expressing the individuality and personality of these unique terroirs as effectively and tangibly as possible is what matters more than anything else.

Production notes

Reichsgraf von Kesselstatt celebrated its 650th anniversary in 1999 - 1349-1999 - and is a world-renowned producer of the finest German Riesling wines from the Mosel, Saar and Ruwer regions. All vineyards are family owned. The Kesselstatt estate has always managed its vineyards to focus on quality. Strict yield restrictions, modern temperature-controlled stainless steel fermentation tanks and perfect storage conditions ensure that Kesselstatt Riesling wines show great character. Only Riesling grapes are grown on the 36 hectares of its best Mosel-Saar-Ruwer vineyard sites. The goal of Domaine Reichsgraf von Kesselstatt is to reflect the terroir in its Rieslings and to maintain the fruit and aroma of the grapes in the wines. These characteristics - clear fruit and transparency - make the Riesling so unique. All wines are fermented with indigenous yeasts at very low temperatures.

Tasting notes

This year's Riesling revels in its scent of lime, pineapple and lemongrass. The subtle scent of flint is exciting. Its mouthfeel is particularly striking. On the palate, a touch of minerality wrapped in lots of citrus and a pleasantly tangible acidity. Smooth and filigreed, this is an attractive wine that keeps its freshness from start to finish. Light black currant aromas in the aftertaste complete the wine's flavor profile.
